While we have many scheduled classes in a variety of glass art techniques, we also offer a bite-sized introduction most times we are open. Book ahead using our Koalendar app, and check available Art Bar times. Our instructors are ready to show you the basics, and present you with a variety of glassy goodies to explore through our DIY Art Bar. Perfect for a laid-back session with a friend, after school tinker time, or treat-yo-self to a restorative moment of creativity.

Current Art Bar Project: Small Fused Glass Creation

Whether you design a funky free-form piece, or work off of a base, you’re sure to make something cool as you arrange glassy goodies on your canvas to design a one of a kind work of glass art. After you’re done, we’ll pop them in the kiln to get them to melty perfection. Creations are ready for pick up within the week.

Includes:

  • 20 minutes of direct instruction, and periodic instructor check-ins.

  • All project materials

  • A non-alcoholic beverage of choice…but if you want to upgrade, we’ve got a wide selection of beer, wine, and even mead to whet your whistle.

*This project is suitable for minors 5+, but know that instructor support will not be as heavy as in our kids class. Don’t worry though, we’ll show you all you need to know to tinker on your own and provide kid-safe materials. Waiver required for both adult and child participants before tinkering.

Glass Classes for Creatives of all Ages

Whether you are new to glasswork, or are looking to dive deeper and explore new skills, we offer a variety of classes all expertly designed to differentiate and support you in your creative pursuits. Below are just a few of our current offerings and how they differ.

Soldered Stained Glass

Sip n Solder- In this three hour social class, you will learn all the parts of the process (no kits here!) of designing a copper foil method stained glass piece. Perfect as a group activity in a social atmosphere where everyone comes together to learn something new and leave with a project you are proud of.

Intro to Copper Foil-

Our deep dive classes often occur monthly, and involve either specialty theme/more detailed patterns, and a more intimate group size. These classes are often full-day and spend more time on specific cutting, foiling, and soldering techniques.

Lead Came Panel Work- While “copper foil” or “Tiffany” method pieces have become more popular (and accessible) over time, this class will take you back in time to explore some of the original stained glass construction techniques perfected over hundreds of years. In this full-day workshop you will learn to construct a small stained glass panel using metal came channels and learn construction basics, and dive deeper into cutting/grinding techniques.

Glass Fusing

Intro to Glass Fusing- A two-hour deep dive on the magic behind what goes on in our studio kilns to create a beautiful one of a kind piece of glass art. Learn to cut glass, explore a variety of studio glassy goodies, and choose your own adventure or choose a one of our favorite studio fusing projects. Pieces are available for pick up a few days after your class.

Kids Fusing- A one hour class dedicated to your youngest artists (though adults, you are welcome too!) using kid-safe and fun-tested glassy goodies. This class is a guided exploration of glass fusing with one of our awesome instructors. Can’t make it on a weekend? Pop-in for Art Bar fusing on your own whenever it is convenient for you! Or check out our Say it Kids! Studio Camp programming.

Flameworking

Intro to Flamework- We’re turning up the heat in our newest class offering. Most folks are familiar with hot-glass work/glassblowing using a forge, but you can also manipulate glass on a smaller scale. Flamework or “Lampworking” involves manipulating glass rods in a high-powered propane and oxygen flame to construct small detailed glass creations. This class is a balance of learning basic technical skills, and enjoying the process of hot-glass design in this mesmerizingly cool session.
